capacité de projection

According to a thread in the French only forum, this is "un terme militaire: c'est la possibilité d'envoyer rapidement armes ou armées dans un autre pays."

Does anyone know if there is a similar military term in English? I can see what it means, and in the metaphorical context where I have it I think I could get away with translating it as "reach", but I would really like to use an equivalent military phrase or term.

I've seen "power projection" as a translation, but it doesn't fit the definition given at the top and wouldn't do the same job in a sentence. It might be possible to use "power" and "project" in a phrase to say a similar thing, but I think "power projection" is probably the mark of a translator with a deadline.

I'm going to go with "deployment capability", as "capability" is the term I've heard used most often in military contexts and I see from google that "deployment capability" is an English term that gets translated, rather than the other way round.
