    Differently – cards has a "d" in it. :)

    My point being that when you pronounce it even reasonably well, your listener will hear the "d."

    They should be pronounced differently but in casual speech it might be difficult to detect the slightly voiced consonant before the s. That consonant, when detectable, may well sound like a t, rather than a d.
