carving a line

Senior Member

The moment the elevator doors opened, he stormed out, carving a line toward his room.

Does "carving a line" suggest that he directly went to his room?

Thank you!

The idea may be that he went straight to his room, or, as we often say, "he made a beeline" for it. "Carving" sounds odd, unless there were people in the way and he had to "cut" a path (not literally, one hopes).
