Hi! Could you, please, explain me what does the highlighted part mean:
But one unique feature it(the spaceship) has which directly relates to the sub-light realistic travel is a cascade-style shield stack to protect the speeding craft from interstallar debris.
As I understand, this 'shield stack' should look like tiled roof. Am I right?

Jim's doc completely explains this technology, apparently based on current NASA research, and how it obliterates potentially catastrophic particles by letting them slam through a series of thin, light shield surfaces.

    Though having said that, I suspect that your visualisation is as good as anyone else's - unless you happen to have direct access to the NASA research :)
