Cases

It seems to me as if languages used to make a lot more use of cases in the past. Nowadays, languages tend to use a lot more syntax. Is anyone here aware of research that looks at the ways in which this influences people and perhaps even changes the way they think? I'd love to learn more about this.

Examples would be Latin using cases intensively, while Spanish and French do not. From what I hear, Classical Arabic also uses cases a lot more than most regional variations nowadays.
