I was wondering why Spaniards and Argentinians say they speak "castellano". Do you also say you speak "Spanish"? Is "Castellano" Spanish that simply includes vosotros also? Or is there something else I'm missing.

    Just curious....

Castellano is the name of the language commonly called Spanish. It is one of several laguages spoken in Spain (the main reason it's not universally called "Spanish", although quite commonly it is).

It's the derivation that came from the areas known as Castilla y León, but it is not the only one.

Catalan is a "Spanish" language, among others, but it is not the one spoken around the globe, Castillian or Castellano is.. From an English speaking perspective, there is little practical difference.

    Saludos.
