I can't picture "the cat ... escaped from his carrier ... behind a pane". I know what a carrier is. Then, where is a pane? This sentence seems to describe the inside of a cargo in a plane. How can a cat hide himself behind a pane?

The most traveled cat is Hamlet, who escaped from his carrier while on a flight. He hid for seven weeks behind a pane. By the time he was discovered, he had traveled nearly 600,000km.
