catch up the arrears/the backlog/the outstanding matters

Senior Member
I'm still having my Christmas break. I'm watching TV, reading books and trying to catch up ..................

A few things have accumulated and need to be taken care of.
I wonder how I can fill the gap with these expressions:
1. the arrears.
2. the backlog.
3. the outstanding matters.

Thank you.

All three sound a bit formal to me for what appears to be a casual conversational style, especially (3). :(

I'd just say "catch up on things" or "catch up on everything". In fact even "catch up" on its own would work for me there. :)
