Hi,

I am trying to translate the phrase "cepas musicales" in this context. It comes from an interview with the musician Hugo Fattoruso, where he is discussing the importance of the different kinds of folkloric music in Latin America.

"El continente de Latinoamérica es absolutamente millonario en estilos, pureza y cepas musicales..."

Does cepa here mean something similar to raíz? Or is there another meaning I am missing?

¡Gracias mil!
