I saw the sentence below in an ESL textbook, and I wonder if I can use "of" instead of "for."

Our bank notified us that your certified check for $2,000 was credited to our account.

    Using "for" is correct. The sentence is abbreviated. It might make more sense if you read it like this: 'Our bank notified us that your certified check for the amount of $2,000 was credited to our account.'
