I suspect that type 2 and type 3 conditionals never backshift for indirect speech. If the type 2 conditional were backshifted, it would sound like a type 3 conditional.

She said that if Peter went home he would meet his brother.

I saw an example where this: He asked, "What would you do if you were a celebrity?"
was changed into: He asked what I would have done if I had been a celebrity.

So would the correct answer be: He asked what I would do if I were a celebrity?

What would you do if you were a celebrity? :tick:
is a type 2 conditional. It can be put into reported speech as
He asked what I would do if I were/was a celebrity. :tick:

What would you have done if you were/had been a celebrity? :tick:

is a type 3 conditional. It can be put into reported speech as
