    Sì, se esistesse un solo formaggio o se precedentemente si era già parlato di formaggio.
    "Sono a dieta e non mangio formaggio. Il formaggio al cinquanta per cento è grasso."
    In #2 hai delle ottime alternative.

    That word would have to be in the sentence to make sense to me. 🙂

    I don't know, if someone says cheese is fifty percent fat, I understand that they mean "on average". I don't think that's just me, that's a widespread way of speaking.
    Whether one likes or dislikes a particular way of speaking, if people use it and it makes sense to most people, then the question of how to translate it is also valid.
    To me it doesn't seem worth arguing about, so I'm going to leave it at that.
