Circulate or distribute

Could I use "distribute" under this context?

Please "circulate" these documents to respective discipline.

    I'm afraid this part isn't clear. Could you please clarify?

    In general "circulate" is appropriate where the same thing is being sent to many people whether. Things are usually circulated among people.

    The word "distribute" will work if you're referring to different documents that each need to be given to different people, or different copies of the same document to be given to different people .

    Distribute implies when a particular set of documents are to be given to a particular person. While circulate implies that the same set of documents are to be given to all the persons.

    Circulate also implies that you don't necessarily give all the documents to everyone directly. You might give documents to one person who will give them to another person who will give them to another person.

    In your case, distribute seems more correct.
