città gioiello

Hi everybody, I'm trying to translate a sentence where there's this Italian expression "citta gioiello". The context is not necessary, I need a literal translation. Is there any correspondence in English?

However, may it be needed. "Cortona, la piccola città gioiello in provincia di Arezzo,(..)". This nominative phrase is enough.
Thank you all!
peace

The little jewel-like city could be ok. But I'll use town because Cortona is surely not a city. It's not big enough to be such a kind of city like Rome, it's something more rural.
    Thanks a lot!
