potete aiutarmi a tradurre la frase:
-nel 1820 il primo libro del clavicembalo ben temperato di Bach divente veramente il pane quotidiano dei pianisti.

-in 1820 Bach's first book for well-tempered haprsichord became the real daily bread for the pianists.

grazie tante

  • This piece is generally referred to as

The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1 or you could say
Book 1 of The Well-Tempered Clavier

so using Ben Vitale's version and altering it slightly, I would say

Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1 became the bread and butter of pianists in 1820.

Bach's Book 1/first book of The Well-Tempered Clavier became the bread and butter of pianists in 1820.

    Hi Elfa,

Thanks for the correction... I didn't know it was referred to as : Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1
I went and listened to it on youtube.

Yes, Book 1 is made up of 24 Preludes and Fugues to celebrate the fact that you could now play in every major and minor key on the keyboard or Clavier (previously, due to the way keyboards were tuned, you couldn't) Bach then wrote a second book - called Book 2. :)

What about the sentence in Italian? Shouldn't it be modified?

Nel 1820, il "Clavicembalo ben temperato, Libro 1" di Bach .... ?

Well, I didn't write the original...

I see in Italian, though, it's written both as

primo libro del clavicembalo ben temperato and also

    clavicembalo ben temperato, libro 1o
