coke crash eyes

Hi, everybody,
Could you please help to interpret a difficulty in the novel by Adrian McKinty
"Fifty Grand"?

His breath a ghost that vanishes like all ghosts. Desperation in
those red, coke crash eyes. I go behind him and lug him to his feet. Iceburned
skin.

There are no direct indications but something tells me coke crash eyes are the eyes of a person under the influence of narcotics. Is that correct?

That sounds right, Alexander. "Coke-crash" eyes would be the eyes of somebody who has "crashed" after taking cocaine. "Crash" is a word we use to describe somebody who is no longer experiencing the pleasant effects of a drug. Instead, the person is tired, irritable, and possibly anxious to take more of the drug.
