combination of clauses

The following sentences have been taken from an old paper. Would anybody like to help me to realize the following complicated sentences?

"By nine o'clock, Team Spirit descends into Get Damned Thing Done. All of us are now in the nursery, which is taking for ever, what with the way the woodwork keeps drinking primer, and a few people are getting a little testy, asking whose dumb idea was this anyway?

"All of us are now in .......idea was this anyway?" contains some clauses. I failed to realize the meaning of each clause. Would anybody like to interpret this and describe the relation among them?

It is unedited informal conversation. Though painting is not mentioned, woodwork and primer are. Apparently painting the nursery is taking a long time and some of the people doing it are getting impatient.

All of us (the people painting the nursery) are now in the nursery, which is taking forever to paint since the woodwork keeps absorbing primer, and a few people are getting impatient and asking who it was that thought of painting the house/building in the first place.
