Come down (judgement)

One of the characters in Stephanie Clifford's Everybody Rise novel is afraid to invite her boyfriend to a party, because her mother will be there to. At one point she concludes that: "her mother's judgement would come down eventually, though". Does it mean she will have to hear the opinion anyway?

Yes. Judgement is often seen as descending from above, e.g. Divine wrath: "fire and judgment came down upon the earth" or a court's decision: "The minute the 28 June court judgment came down, a number of Montreal Island suburban mayors felt free to plunge headfirst into the political pool".
