Come gather (a)round

I think British usage is round while American would be around. To my students I might say : "Gather around me." Let's say I'm showing them something.
Venez vous rassembler (autour de moi) !
Would that be correct or are there other possibilities? Also, is it customary to use the exclamation mark in any imperative sentence? Right now I'm unclear about usage in English. Merci d'avance.
