    If there is a ranking, like 1 to 10 (with 10 the lowest), this person always came out at number 10. This person was always lowest compared to all others who were successful.

    The writer "ranked himself" below them, or somehow considered them to have attributes that would place them in a "higher" position compared to him, seeing them as "superior."
