come sabbia nel pugno

Buonanotte,
Ecco i miei tentativi:

"the sand runs out of my fist, the more you tighten it, the more you let it slip"
OPPURE
"the sand runs out of my fist, the more you tighten your grip, the more the grains will slip through your fingers"

Grazie.

It’s like a handful of sand; the tighter you squeeze, the more you lose.

Thank you for your replies. I'll wait for some other proposal.

Anyway, considering the fact that I'd like to maintain a sound - a rhyme - inside this translation, what do you think about my following attempt?

it escapes like sand from your fist
the more you tighten the grip
the more you let it slip

Thank you in advance for your help!
