comfort or make feel comfortable?

    Which one is correct:
    - Don't hide the truth to make me comfortable.
    - Don't hide the truth to comfort me.

    Both sentences are grammatically correct. If you'll give us an idea of the situation in which you're thinking of saying this, we can advise you which expression would be more appropriate.

    I don't like the people who falsify the truths just to comfort others/ make them feel comfortable / or to make them comfortable!
    I want to express that some people do lie about the truths to
    relieve others' emotional pains!

    Thanks for the explanation, N00r. I'd use "make me comfortable" in that sentence.

    I'd use "comfort" if the other person was trying to assuage your grief after some tragedy. After seeing your explanation, that seems unlikely to me.
