In the sentence <As one of the main artists of the group, Hua Jiming had graduated> , I believe there should be no comma after group because it is restrictive? Please advise.
 
  • What you have written is neither a restrictive clause nor a case of apposition.
    A restrictive clause is not appropriate here, since (presumably) his graduation was not what made him one of the main artists of the group.
    You are trying simply to put two facts about him into one sentence. The right way to do this is by apposition:
    'Hua Jiming, one of the main artists of the group, had graduated...'
