comma before 'as' [conjunction]: confused, as her brown eyes showed

Hi!
I am doubtful about this sentence's comma:
"Sophia became confused, as her brown eyes showed."
Is the comma used here correct?

  • Yes, I like it there -- it keeps you from reading it all together (and stopping for a moment and wondering if it's an "as/as" comparison, i.e. "as confused as").
