comma before 'as' [conjunction]: is a good idea, as they have time

Hi everybody,

I'm reading after the proofreader, and I have a feeling lots of commas are missing. For example, there isn't any in this sentence:

Making curry a day before serving is a good idea as the flavours have time to fully develop.


Shouldn't there be a coma before "as"?

Making curry a day before serving is a good idea, as the flavours have time to fully develop.
