Spears allegedly yelled, “I am going to kill you!” and cursed at Andrew Deetz, a photographer who says he was beaten by Spears’ bodyguard.

About the exclamation mark at the end of the quotation, is it legitimate? If this quotation is a questioning sentence, is it legitimate too to put a question mark at the end? Shouldn't it be a comma as the sentence does not end yet?

  • The exclamation point is acceptable. It can be used at the end of a sentence or at the end of a quote.
