I have two questions about the use of commas and articles.
Please read the follow sentences.

1. He proposed forming the international organization, the United Nations, to maintain world peace.

2. He proposed forming an international organization, the United Nations, to maintain world peace.

Did I use the commas correctly in the above setences? Which article should we use before 'international organization'?

Many thanks!
