commutazione

I am working on a translation and have been asked to use the terms used in the "parent" document.

I always thought that "switching" was the proper translation for commutazione.

Is commutation a correct translation for the word "commutazione"?

For example:

Thanks for any help.

    Ciao kellytree!

    Bye,

    Thanks for your response Benzene.

    "My" dictionary says :
    EL, INFOR, COM switching
    • ELET commutation
    • PLAST (passaggio dall'iniezione al mantenimento, nello stampaggio a iniezione) switch-over to holding pressure

I have never seen commutation used ..... BUT having said that- there are a lot of things I haven't seen or heard :)

In the "electrical" context, "Commutation" describes the process to change (commute) direction of the current

I do not have enough context to understand if the original Italian sentence was related to a commutation or a simple switching operation, but because they use the word "posizione", I guess they meant "position of the switch" ("position of the commutation" does not make any sense), but it is only a mild guess.
