Are these sentences correct:

1-Compared to him, my writing is bad.
2-Compared to him, my books don't sell well.
3-Compared to him, my pain is nothing.

To me these sentences sound incorrect, but I think people do sometimes say things like them.
The problem is not really the grammar, but the logic.
The problem is that my writing can be bad compared to his writing, not compared to him.

    The problem is that my writing can be bad compared to his writing, not compared to him.
    In all three sentences, I would use "his".
