Complain of or complain about

Hi everyone.
Which sentence is correct? ;)

Before that, He had complained of the poor quality of the company.
Before that, He had complained about the poor quality of the company

    Neither are necessarily "true". ;)

    I couldn't consider "of" wrong, but "about" is much more idiomatic for me, in American English.
