conceited people

English - Canada
I am trying to say that 'Molière makes fun of conceited people'

would it be right to say

' Molière a moqué des personnes fats'

de personnes fats does not sound right, is there another way I may describe this particular group of people?

I have never heard the word fat, and I am French, but I did see it as a translation of conceited.
To me the best traduction, especially since Molière is concerned, would be vaniteux
=> Molière se moque des personnes vaniteuses.
