I started a thread on a possible link between ocncession and owning [up]. Something like: recognizing as one's own... There seemed to be few links in other languages.
But I suddenly realized that there is something that seems like a paradox:
- recognizing, (h)erkennen (Dutch)/anerkennen (German) as one's own mistake (inward movement, I think)
- ad-mitting, toe-geven (Dutch)/zugeben (German); giving (sending...) to, literally (which seems like an outward movement to me)
Do you recognize that (paradox) in your language?
