Hi.

An English grammar book of mine gives sentence (1) below.

 (1) If you ask me, she is jealous of Janet's engagement.

What I would like to know is whether or not it is possible to put 'confidentially' in sentence (1).
In other words, I would like to know whether or not you can use sentence (2) below.

 (2) Confidentially, if you ask me, she is jealous of Janet's engagement.

Will you tell me whether or not sentence (2) is correct?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, your sentence is fine. 'Confidentially' means 'I am telling you in confidence' (ie privately and trusting you will not repeat what I say to other people).
