How do I write "Congratulations on the birth of your son" - or words to that effect - something nice!!! in Italian please.

    Inviamo le nostre più sentite congratulazioni per il nascito del tuo figlio. That's what I think is right. Hopefully a native Italian will concur. ;)

    That's if the writer is expressing the sentiments of a group, not just his/her own.

    OK, I need further explanation. If it were my own sentiments, can I say "Invio il mio più sentite congratulazioni per il nascito del tuo figlio.

    normally the greetings are addressed to both parents therefore:

    inviamo le nostre più sentite congratualzioni per la nascita di vostro figlio.

    like lsp said that one works when more than a person is involved in greetings.

    a little trick to overtake the ambiguity is to cut the sentence:

    le più sentite congratulazioni per la nascita di vostro figlio

    a better way to state it though IMHO is 'vivissime congratulazioni per la nascita di vostro figlio'
