Is it ok that I feel viscerally grateful for shitty grey cold days & now have conscripted the rain as ally in social distancing and deterrent from leaving home?

Hi, everyone
This is a line I picked up from a WeChat group(Facebook-like app). Does the speaker use conscript correctly? Thanks.
(I personally prefer "viewed")

"Viewed" doesn't mean the same thing. I have made use of the rain... / I have put the rain to use... "Conscripted" is unusual but makes perfect sense.

Thank you. Is there another replacement as a similar big word, like recruit? Just Im interested in different ways of describing a situation.

    In a literal sense, no.
    In a figurative sense, yes.
The speaker just personified rain, so that it is an ally that he could and did recruit (or conscript).
