This is found in a local newspaper :

Also 10 per cent said their jobs required them to be contactable any time.

I've looked up the word "contactable" on the online dictionaries and couldn't find it. I've found this word and this sentence very strange. How would you suggest changing it? Thanks a lot.

Thanks, gasman. But I'd like to know if the above sentence is common, i.e.the way of expressing it. Is "contactable" a common word? Why can't I find it in a dictionary? Thanks.

    Google returns 300,000 hits.

The third hit is from The Guardian, a respected British newspaper.

    Wiktionary has a definition.

You could use "reachable" if that sounds better to you.

It's not in my Collins English Dictionary (1980) either so maybe it's a fairly new form but I'd be surprised if any native English speaker didn't know what it meant.
