Hi,

I am trying to write "he could no longer work as a teacher" in Spanish. I'm almost certain I can use "enseñar como profesor" for the last bit.

However, I am having trouble working "no longer" into the sentence. How can I say it, and where in the sentence should it go?

Hope someone can help, and thanks in advance (although that may be tempting fate).

El no podrá volver a trabajar como profesor.
El no podrá ejercer más como profesor.

Teachers are supposed to teach so you don´t need to say enseñar como profesor because in english it would mean something like "Teach as a teacher".

    Hope it helps.

    Thank you!

Sorry, I think that may have been a blonde moment on my part! It was only when I read your reply that I realised what I'd said!

Thanks very much for that, you've been a big help.

    ¿Por qué volver?

Creo que sería: Él ya no podrá trabajar como profesor.

    My 2 cents

    If it is a fact:
Él ya no puede trabajar como maestro.

    If it is possibility
Él ya no podría trabajar como maestro.

Andrea, I didn't know redundancies came in different levels.:)
