Hi there,

I'm quite confused about the two "than" in the following sentence, could somebody explain this to me?

The amount of recovered material that America, the world’s biggest exporter of scrap, sent to China was 3m tonnes less than in the first half of 2018 than a year earlier, a drop of 38%.

Thanks a loooooooot!

It looks like someone added 'than in the first half of 2018' to substitute for 'than in a year earlier' but then forgot to delete 'than in a year earlier.'
