cross my heart and hope to die, stick a needle in my eye

I've heard "que me caiga muerto," but it's not a rhyme as in English. This phrase is mostly used by children, who always draw an X over their hearts when saying it. Adults rarely use it, except jocularly.

Well, there isn't a corresponding translation for every little rhyme in a language. We have nothing in English equivalent to "sale vale" or "¿Qué te pasa, calabaza?," for example.
