cultivate, educate

hi,
i have to do a small presentation about Guinness, and for the biography part, in order not to bluntly write a biography of Arthur Guinness, i introduce it with a sentence like 'let us now educate ourselves with a bit of biography". Is it correct? or should i use "cultivate ourselves"? Or are they both lousy?
thanks for your help

'cultivate' can definitely not be used here, and 'educate' is not much better. How about '.. and now a bit of biographical background ...
