"cupped by the streaming breeze"

I am not sure about the meaning of "cupped" in this line:

"The Ark is launched; cupped by the streaming breeze,
The stiff sails tug the long reluctant keel,
And Noah, spattered by the rising seas,
Stands with his great fist fstened to the wheel."

Cupped in this sense means being held in the hand. If you hold out your hand with the fingers close together and slightly bent, your hand makes a cup. The breeze was pushing the Ark, as a hand might... if it was big enough!
