cycling the clutch

The 'Idle Governor' driving mode complements the cruise control when driving slowly, without cycling the clutch. It leaves the engine operating at idle and adjusts road speed by selecting the gear that best suits the traffic.
et oui c'est encore moi et ma transmission 53 h plus tard! Blague à part quelqu'un aurait une idée pour l'équivalent français,Hakro si vous êtes encore là...

Is cycling the clutch the same thing as slipping a gear, or being out of gear ? (...something I've wanted to know for a while) Hakro ??

I would have thought that "cycling the clutch" is repeated clutching and de-clutching, which is not the same as "slipping the clutch" (= partial declutching)
I would translate it as something like "embrayage/desembrayage répété"

Again, I agree with the esteemed broglet. :)

Thanks, broglet, so cycling the clutch is a bad thing and must wear it out, whearas the Idle Governor ... does it some other way.
