déplacer la problématique

Hi everyone,

The context is Hegel, and philosophy more generally.

"Ceci déplace la problématique classique."

"This changes the traditional framing of the issue."

This phrasing feels awkward to me, I would appreciate any ideas you have. I know the surrounding sentences might help, but they are very dense and full of distractions, so I would rather keep it simple.

Another idea is "shifts the traditional terms of the debate."

Thank you!

I see nothing wrong with your attempts. Something like "shifts the traditional issue (to some other issue)" seems to fit the bill. Can't say how that sounds to a native speaker though.
