dancing silver

He told us that we had affirmed life, that our eyes had abandoned death, defeat. That our feet were dancing silver. (A poet recollected Martin Luther King in Time Magazine Sep.2, 2013)

"dancing silver" confuses me a lot, is silver an adjective here? What does it mean?

I think my interpretation would be that the product of our feet's dancing was silver, as if dancing would somehow be a way of creating silver. 'Dancing' would then be the present participle of 'dance', as 'affirmed' and 'abandoned' are the past participles of 'affirm' and 'abandon'.
