Hi, everyone

I have a question about the subject and gerund/present participle. Like the word "adapting" in the following paragraph:

"We have set out to meet the challenge of reviving the theories of developmental psychology, adapting them in such a way as to make it possible for us to study them in practice"

Is it wront to use the gerund/present participle that way? Does it have a subject?
Is "adapting" a case of dangling participle?

Thank you very much!
