Could you tell me what "Darcy pole" is?
From Stephen King's the Mist:
All my uncles had been here, and they had spent the day in the
woods with axes and hatchets and Darcy poles,
cutting brush.

    There's a discussion of this on the Spanish-English forum which I read translated via Google.
    Nobody knew exactly what these are, but 'bush hooks' seemed the best generic word for a tool used to cut scrub/brush.
