The actual term for the practice of calligraphy may well be any of these: khat, khataati, khosh-nevissi, all terms used this side of the border in Iran. Naturally, different words may exist over in Afghanistan. Still, I believe any of these keywords should help you communicate your intention to the local people. Good luck!
