de famille en famille

New Member

I've just had an email and I'm struggling to translate part of it. It goes like this:

"Il y a bien des personnes ayant le pouvoir de guérir ou soulager les maux mais comme partout ailleurs et cela se transmet de famille en famille."

I feel like "de famille en famille", in the context, is likely to be something like "from one generation to the next", but is it really saying that the "power" is passed down "from one family to another"?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks very much! Out of interest, that's an email from the Corsica tourist office about the tradition of mazzérisme...
