    'A default setting in your phone' or' 'The default setting in your phone'. Since a default setting can be just one I favor for 'the'. Am I off the base?

    If there are multiple features to configure, we might speak about "default settings" or simply "defaults" (used as a noun).

    (As an aside, I think that "Am I off base" is the most idiomatic way to ask that question.)

    and "defaults" (with an 's')
