... though, no, not the degree is required--a "degree requirement" is what is required to get the degree.
maybe: niveau d'études requis
No, it's not about the level you reach. It's simply about requirements. Again, it can be a specific number of courses in an area, it can be that you have to do an internship, write a thesis or do anything else that occurs to the committee that sets the requirements.
Unfortunately, I'm looking the official term used at French universities, not for a description.
